Event overview
Goldsmiths art psychotherapy graduates explore the relationship between becoming an art psychotherapist and their work as artists.
The artwork presented reflects a growing awareness of unconscious processes within themselves and others, whilst drawing on the complexity of the emotional response to their clients.
Staff from the Goldsmiths Art Psychotherapy MA will add to the conversation by creating a visual response to the exhibition. There will be open studio sessions daily in the gallery where visitors can respond by making art work to be displayed in the gallery, which will become part of the growing and developing exhibition. For the duration of the show, it is hoped the exhibition will evolve by facilitating dialogue between the work made, and those who view it and respond to it; mirroring the back and forth of the therapeutic relationship between artwork, artist and viewer/art therapist.
There will also be some information for anyone wishing to gain further understanding of Art Psychotherapy. The growing and developing exhibition will be recorded photographically for the duration of the show.
