A panel discussion and debate with Professor Ted Cantle, Chair of the Community Cohesion Review Team, established following the 2001 disturbances.
In August 2001, the home secretary appointed Ted Cantle as chair of the Community Cohesion Review Team and to lad the review of the causes of the summer disturbances in a number of northern towns and cities.
The report - known as the Cantle Report - was produced in December 2001 and made around 70 recommendations. The concept of "community cohesion" was subsequently adopted by the government and Ted Cantle was asked to chair the panel that advised ministers on implementation.
At the invitation of the Faiths and Civil Society Unit, Ted Cantle will be joined by panel members; Adam Dinham, Professor of Faith & Public Policy, Goldmsiths, Jenny Kartupelis, Director, East of England Faiths Council, Prof Marjorie Mayo, Emeritus Professor of Community Development, Goldsmiths, and Pragna Patel, Director, Southall Black Sisters.
