Event overview
Yayoi Kusama’s long artistic career has pushed the boundaries between the personal and political, art and life. The lecture will explore the relationship between Kusama’s personal biography and her art work using ideas drawn from the work of Kenneth Wright and Donald Winnicott, psychoanalysts from the British School of Object Relations. Kusama’s artistic career is explored as a restless search to transform those personal and political conflicts that push her work towards the ecstasy and terror of a sublime self obliteration.
