Event overview
Dr Perlita Harris’ contribution to the field of race and ethnicity in adoption, drawing on both her personal as well as her professional experience, was unparalleled. Alongside adopting a traditional approach to research she harnessed the power of poetry, art, film, life stories, biographical and autobiographical writing to give voice to the experience of adopted children and adults, leaving an indelible imprint on British childcare policy and practice in the field of adoption and fostering. This event is being held to celebrate and build on Perlita’s rich legacy.
We are delighted to be able to confirm that Lemm Sissay MBE and Pinter Prize winner 2019 will be speaking at this event. The full programme will be published at a later date.
We intend this event will be an inspiring and interactive event that celebrates and takes forward Perlita’s life work.
