Using workshops, the conference will introduce the work of the Brazilian educator and philosopher Paulo Freire, and share and explore two experiential teaching and learning approaches to tackling social injustice and oppression, influenced by Freire’s work, in particular;
The experiential group work for social justice approach, which underpins the BA (Hons) Applied Social Science, Community Development and Youth Work (CD&YW) programme at Goldsmiths
Augusto Boal’s Theatre of the Oppressed, where participants use drama and theatre as a tool to explore and resolve social justice issues and tackle oppression
The event is also an opportunity to network with other participants
Refreshments will also be provided!
